was Established in 1993 with the objective of producing undergraduate graduates in Agro- Industry. In 2000, the department commenced the admission of students for a master’s degree in Agro- Industry and renamed the program name to Food Science and Technology in 2006. To better align with the needs of the population in the lower northern region, The department initiated the admission of  undergraduate students in Industrial Biotechnology in 2004 and introduced a Doctor of Philosophy program in Food Science Food Technology in 2007.
